When we built our dream house with wooden stairs and then (a year later) got our dream dog, we realized we would need carpeting to help the dog learn to get up the stairs, but we didn't want to carpet the stairs. These carpet stair treads turned out to be the way to bring our dreams together. They look good and fit in our modern aesthetic, they have not damaged the wood finish and are easy to remove when we clean. We just bought a second set.
So far these have been great. They stay firmly on the steps, have not slid in any way. Also easy to take off when needed.
